Montreal Botanical Garden
The Botanical Garden has over 22 000 species of plants on display in 40 different gardens. Through the use of greenhouses, a substantial portion of the garden is open all year round, even in the dead of winter. One of the largest botanical gardens in the world, almost every possible biosphere is represented.
Mount Royal
Rising up above the heart of downtown is Mount Royal , a small mountain that has been preserved as a slice of nature in the middle of a bustling metropolis. In the summer, Mount Royal has a fantastic park with a lake and several hiking and cycling trails to enjoy, and in the winter the lake freezes over for skating, and sliding down the hills is possible on toboggans. In all seasons, the view from one of the several lookout points displays almost the entire city.
Park Jean-Drapeau
Located on Île Notre-Dame , an island that was created from the leftover excavations of the Montreal metro system, and also connecting to neighboring Île Sainte-Hélène, Park Jean Drapeau surrounds the La Ronde amusement park, the Montreal Casino and the Formula 1 race track. It also has swimming pools, a limited beachfront, and miles of trails for walking through the local forest and vegetation.
Jarry Park
This park can be found near the center of the city, and it boasts a large pond and fountain, along with beautiful gardens and many different kinds of trees. In terms of activities, there are tennis courts and swimming and wading pools, along with facilities for baseball, soccer, and volleyball, but the park is ideal for picnics and lounging in the sun. There are also playgrounds for children.
